Sekvens Special

Sekvens Spe­cial was inspired by tra­di­tion­al pot­tery and the potter’s craft. In wheel-throw­ing the cone shape is a basic ele­ment, and in tra­di­tion­al pot­tery the edge often slopes inward slight­ly. This aspect is high­light­ed in the bowls, which can be stacked to form a cone, serv­ing as a for­mal para­phrase of the potter’s craft and a sculp­tur­al ele­ment on the kitchen table. The bowls are cast in stoneware cast­ing slip and fired. After this ini­tial fir­ing, the bowls are glazed with a soft mat­te glaze. The bowls then go back into the kiln, at 1260 degrees Cel­sius. Final­ly, the base of the bowls is pol­ished with wet grind­ing paper.
